Chickens!!
So this post is a long time coming, and is specifically being posted today because Mom and Dad have been wanting to see it/them. (because I come from a long line of people who become happy at the sight of chickens?) Anyhow. Here goes the chicken story.
We started here, with the egg. Just kidding.
We started here, with the egg. Just kidding.
Actually, we started here, with Bunny and Lucy, silverlaced wyandottes
Then the girls and I visited the feed store for, yep, you guessed it, chicken feed. (be prepared, this theme will repeat itself) and came home with Buffy and Lacey
Oh, wait. How did that happen--Panzie and Gypsie at a memorial remberance service for Mary and Laura? Wrong picture, but proof that we are not lacking in pets!
Buffy and Lacey, for reals, now. Ameracaunas/EasterEggers
It is at this point, that Eric begins to get worried, and suggests that I come up with a coop plan. We have a lot of bathtubs here, so I wasn't particularly worried. I evidently am a novice chicken farmer.
Thus begins the work on the coop. My husband knows me well, and had every reason to be afraid!
Amy looks like she's helping, but she's actually just hoping for someone to throw a ball.
Our wonderful neighbor, Brad, evidently saw the desperation in my husband's eye, and came over to help.
The coop made wonderful progress after Brad came to help!
I made sure that I had a picture standing by the coop, so everyone would know that *I* am the chicken farmer. :)
It is at this point that I began to make profound errors.
I took Joelle with me to the feed store (to buy chicken feed, of course!) and she convinces me to bring home 3 more chickens--Georgia, Octavia, and Bella.(yes, from Twilight. They're chickens--they don't need profound names.)
I'm not really thinking about the fact that Mom and Dad are a week or so from visiting, I have 4 Chickens in a dog crate, and 3 chickens in the guest room bathtub. I also don't really think about the fact that chickens grow bigger, and they lay an egg a day.
to.be.continued.
