Day 10 Otago Peninsula

Spent the day traveling the Otago Penisula.. Toured the only Castle in NZ. Went to the point. Then headed back into the Island. Camped that night in Gore off the Clinton Hwy..

Day 9 The Great Train Ride

Took a trip across the country side from Dunedin to taieri in an old fashion train. Had the whole car to ourselves. Lots of great country side views as we wound up into the mountians.

day 7- 8 Coastal trip & Dunedin

June 8th a stop to see some sea life...

visited the coast of Oamaru. http://www.penguins.co.nz/

Saw wild penguins, chased pengins and was chased by a Sea Lion. (see background).

Arived in Dunedin in time to visit the church... Have a great dinner at a cozy Italian resturant and head into the RV park

Jun 7 Joelle's 13th B-day.

Trapped in Tiannu. Snowed in. Likely the only birthday Joelle will ever experince a snow stom. Hung out in the RV and watched movies. Grocery shopping at the local mart.

Day's 6 Journey heading south

Heading toward Dunadin. Got as far as Timaru before night fall. Spent too much time on the unpopulated beaches and enjoying the scenery along the way. Large open country side filled with, Sheep, cow, and deer. Lots & lots of sheep....

Found cute little country church. Lots of old gothic churches for tourist, little country churches for actual use (i hope).

No freeways. just 2 lane non-crowded country highways :)

Day's 5 Journey Christchurch

DAY 5

Spent the day in Christchurch. took an old fashion trolly to downtown. Watched street performers, large chess games, and toured the church. Great Food. Kind people. You can see our RV behind the telephone booth. Trying not to drive it down town in traffic too much. Spent the Night on the beach listening to the Ocean Waves.

Day's 3-4 Journey from AU to NZ

Day 3. flew to Christ church picked up RV and went shopping to load it with lots of food and snacks. Checked into top ten RV park and unpacked.

Day 4. Went to antartic center. Looked at penguins, enjoyed the wind chill "cold Room" demonstrated by Kore. Had great fish n chips dinner. Mostly a down day to catch our breath!

NZ is a great unkown land filled with beuty and friendly people. The cold was a welcome after many month of never ending tropical heat. We have been blessed to spend some long needed family time together. Christchurch is an amazing place.

Morning - slept in


Afternoon - spent hugging Kangaroos, petting Koala's, and checking out all the other interesting animals indigenous here.


Night - Board walk on the Quay, Sydney opera house & dinner out.



The thing that struck us most is "how CLEAN" everything is here. followed by how NICE everyone is. It is so great to be in a land where you can speak English and be understood. Everything seems sooo simple. A bit of Asian culture shock to be sure. It's cool, beautiful & NO mosquitoes !!!
